The Seafarers (2015, Outdoor)

An image of the seafarers. Hannah Sampson dances with inclusive theatre company members from Highbury College

The Seafarers is a large-scale outdoor dance production involving 10 Stopgap dancers, 60 members of disabled and non-disabled people from the local community and the folk-rock band Moulettes. The production was first commissioned by Portsmouth Festivities to celebrate the resilient seafaring heritage of Portsmouth. The performance took place at The Historic Dockyard.

With the support from Spirit of 2012 and D'Oyly Carte Foundation, The Seafarers will be restaged in Great Yarmouth in May 2018 as part of Norfolk and Norwich Festival. Project partners include DanceEast and The Garage.
