Wheelchair Dance Taster Day

Have you ever wanted to try out dancing? Come and join Stopgap for a taster workshop day at Ovalhouse in London SE11...

The day is aimed at budding wheelchair dancers aged 10+ who would like to experience dance and is open to those who have little or no dance experience. Come and try out Stopgap’s unique IRIS dance training, learn some new skills and have some fun.

The day will be run by Stopgap’s Interim Artistic Director, Laura Jones and Stopgap Dancer, Nadenh Poan.

Laura has danced professionally with Stopgap for 15 years, performing and teaching all over the world. She is also a fierce advocate for the dance and disability sector and regularly speaks at conferences and industry events. Most recently she choreographed for The Paralympic Heritage Flame Ceremony, which took place on 2nd September and was filmed live on channel 4 for The Games in Rio.

Nadenh trained with Epic Arts in Cambodia and graduated in 2011 before joining Stopgap’s Sg2 trainee programme in 2013, where he toured Internationally with Exhibition and The Awakening. After graduating from Sg2 in 2015, Nadenh toured with Casson & Friends Children’s show Night at the Theatre. You can spot Nadenh dancing in Channel 4’s Paralympic ‘Yes I can’ trailer. Nadenh will be performing with Stopgap in their upcoming International tour of The Enormous Room.
