April training days
Stopgap's April professional development courses for dance artists and teachers.
1. Professional Development Lab for Dance Artists with and without Disabilities
Dates: Thursday 10, Friday 11 & Saturday 12 April 2014 (10.30am – 4.30pm)
Cost: £150 (Earlybird) £170 (after 21 March)
Three day intensive with Stopgap Dance Company exploring creative practice and studio work. This experience is designed for dancers who are interested in delving deeper into integrated contemporary dance.
Over the three days morning class will be led by the current touring team, followed by an opportunity to learn and discuss Stopgap's latest choreography, Artificial Things.
The afternoon sessions will explore the poetic body, integrated dance languages, contact dance and an opportunity to skills share.
2. Responsive Dance Teacher Training
Dates: Monday 14 & Tuesday 15 April (10.30am – 4.30pm)
Cost: £160 (Earlybird) £180 (after 21 March)
A two-day dance intensive focused on responsive dance teaching and integrated choreography for community dance educators and practitioners.
Day one: Stopgap will share useful tools and theories behind responsive dance teaching and encourage participants to find a sense of curiosity, creativity and play when teaching people with different bodies or different ways of learning.
Day two will involve working and developing excellent integrated choreography for community dance platforms.
Participants will all receive Stopgap’s teaching resource ‘Inclusive Dance Resource Pack: A Guide to Stopgap Dance Company’s Responsive Teaching Practice’ and CD of original music by Jim Pinchen.
Both sessions will take place at the University of Surrey, Guildford.
