Hannah teaching Farnham Youth Company

Hannah explains what she gets up to every Monday evening with Farnham Youth Company…

At the beginning of September 2015, Nadenh and I were asked to teach Farnham Youth Company on a Monday. Farnham Youth Company is a group of disabled students from the age of 13 to 18, who love to dance.

The first part of the session starts off with me teaching a warm-up and a class. This class is mainly based on technique and it gives the students a chance to show me how they are progressing with their dance skills. The second part of the session is about creativity, this shows and gives them a chance to create something, and use their skills that we have been working on in class, to create a short choreography. These creative skills can be shown to each other in class, however sometimes we work on a choreography that includes everyone in the whole class, which gets performed at Stopgap's Community Platform.
