Emily Thomas Placement Student
Emily is from West Sussex and attended Sackville Secondary School where she studied Drama, English literature and Philosophy. She later joined Redhurst School of Dance, where she mainly trained in jazz, modern and contemporary dance styles.
Emily is currently studying Theatre and Performance Studies at GSA, University of Surrey and has always looked for ways to continue her passion for dance alongside her degree. One of these is undertaking the role of Surrey Dance Squad’s Novice contemporary choreographer, where the dance piece placed in the top three at every competition it was performed at.
Within her degree Emily is particularly interested in blending dance and theatre and abstract performances. The most recent piece she contributed towards explored the theme of contagion in today’s modern society.
Emily is very excited to be spending her placement year with Stopgap as it encompasses all her interests within the arts, especially as she is looking to base her dissertation in final year around disability in the arts.
